I am a retired Army Chaplain and combat veteran with a lifelong commitment to caring for individuals and families through life’s most challenging seasons. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois; my Master of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and my Master of Arts in Psychology and Counseling, with a specialization in Christian Marriage and Family Therapy, from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas.
I am an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Christian Reformed Church in North America. My professional credentials include certification as a Clinical Chaplain and Pastoral Counselor, board certification as a Clinical Supervisor for LMFT interns and associates in Kansas, and licensure as a Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas and as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Michigan, Missouri, and Texas. I am also an Academic Associate in Viktor Frankl’s Logotherapy and a Certified Child Play Therapist.
My years of service as a military chaplain—both in peace and in combat—have deeply shaped my understanding of life, loss, meaning, and resilience. Walking alongside service members, veterans, and families through moments of crisis, transition, and growth has given me valuable insights that inform my clinical and pastoral work today. I bring these experiences into my practice with humility and compassion, offering a supportive space where individuals, couples, and families can explore their struggles, rediscover meaning, and move toward healing and wholeness.
